Usain Bolt’s aunt has come out swinging regarding a promise that was made to erect a statue at the Falmouth Pier in Trelawny of Usain Bolt.
Truth be told this Jamaican sporting legend has done so much for the country. His face is one of the most recognizable and of course the good image he has brought for the country is worth more than gold.
Yet the sad thing is that there has been statues erected in other parts of the world of Bolt and there is not one in Jamaica.
His aunt should not have had to be speaking out for this promise to be fulfilled. The project was shelved and there is no reasonable explanation given,
We agree with the sentiments expressed by those on social media and others reacting to the story … the Falmouth Pier is not the place for the statue as it is not accessible easily to all and sundry. It should be placed in the square that whosoever will may view it and who knows it might just bring in some more visitors who will patronize the shopping outlets there.
So come on Jamaica don’t prove the saying wrong that a profit has no honour in his own country!
