No sooner had the police shamefacedly released the report that Roosevelt ‘Timmy’ Thomas, the father of the slain three-year-old child from St James had escaped from their custody after he had surrendered himself to them, news surfaced that Thomas had been found dead.
Following an appeal to surrender, Thomas, along with a pastor, turned himself in to the Barnett Street Police Station on Wednesday night. However, by 1 pm Thursday, Thomas escaped from the police station by allegedly jumping through a window during a question-and-answer session.
Before social media had time to lament on the incompetence of the police, it was reported that Thomas was found dead last night, around 9 o’clock, in a house in Montego Bay with a bullet wound to the head, according to a report on online portal, Loop News.
The body of little Leashay Thomas was found on Tuesday morning at Dump Up Beach in St James. It was found shortly after her father, reportedly called Leashay’s mother and told her that he was going to kill the baby. OTher reports say that Thomas also sent a text to his own mother saying that he was at the beach with Leashay.
Thomas was reportedly last seen alive by residents in Mount Salem in the parish.
It is not known if Thomas carried out his threat to commit suicide, or if he was murdered in retaliation for the death of little Leashay.
