Police reports have revealed that approximately 9 o’clock Friday evening a team from the Narcotics Division was conducting operations in the Duhaney Park area when they observed George Nooks “Acting in a suspicious manner with a brown paper bag in his hand as he walked towards a vehicle.”
As the detectives approached him, he opened the vehicle and threw the paper bag inside.
The vehicle was reportedly searched “in his presence and view” and the paper bag retrieved. Police reports stated that the bag was found to contain “A small transparent plastic bag with a white powdery substance resembling cocaine.”
George Nooks who is a 56-year-old Gospel-Reggae artiste was arrested in St Andrew after the plastic bag with the small quantity of a white powdery substance, believed to be cocaine, was found in his 2016 Mercedes-Benz’s sport utility vehicle.
It has been reported that he was taken to the Duhaney Park Police Station, where the plastic bag containing the white powdery substance was reportedly sealed and labelled in his presence and view. His vehicle was also taken to the station for safekeeping.
The Gospel-Reggae artiste who made “God is Standing By” a hit song was charged with possession of cocaine and offered bail in the sum of $80,000. He is to appear in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on May 17.
