According to news reports the IAAF President Sebastian Coe wants Jamaica’s sprinting superstar Usain St Usain Bolt to play a key role in the organisation.
Bolt who will be putting up his spikes following the World Championships in London is still in high demand and the athletic world is definitely not ready to say goodbye to him.
As such they are willing to take whatever they can get and although it is not clear what his role will be in the IAAF Coe said he has been in discussion with Bolt.
“We had a very broad conversation, very broad discussion; I am the very last person who would want to usher Usain into retirement. He will decide at the right moment, and we are delighted he is committed to run in London; that’s a good position to be in, but when Usain does decide it’s time to go off and do other things, it’s inevitable he will have a lot of demands,” Coe was quoted as saying.
Coe also spoke about Bolt’s popularity and that he is a global figure and he just wants to ensure that someone like Bolt who has given so much to the sport is not lost on athletics.
We hope so too. No arguments from us on that one, he has a great deal to offer to the sport.
