Lucien Chen who promoted a lot of boxing matches died on Wednesday evening in South West Miami.
His son Lenny confirmed the news with RJR Sports.
The 88-year-old promoter who has been sick for some time is credited with arranging the fight between Trevor Berbick in 1986
Against Mike Tyson.
Chen also played a pivotal role in arranging title fights for other Jamaican boxers such as Richard ‘Shrimpy’ Clarke, Mike McCallum, Simon Brown and Bunny Grant.
Chen’s involvement in boxing extended beyond arranging fights involving Jamaicans as he was also ninstrumental in arranging the 1973 fight beteen Joe Frazier and George Foreman.

Chen’s other love was horseracing, where he owned the country’s largest bookmaking firm, Track Price Plus, and was also an owner and breeder of racehorses teaming with Melvin ‘Babu’ Chin of Melvin Park Stud & Stables fame.
