With the escalating crimes being committed in Montego Bay, the powers that be are now taking steps to monitor even the parties that are being held there.
Mayor of Montego Bay, Glendon Harris said they are trying to implement the system of the Closed Circuit Television in the area of the event in order for them to pick up or solve any occurring problem.
Party promoters will also be required to have the CCTV cameras erected at the entertainment venue before any license will be granted.
Harris, who is chairman of the St James Parish Council, said a resolution has already been passed by councilors for the camera system to be implemented. He said that discussions are taking place with the police for the implementation of the system.
“It is to help us to make the entertainment events secure,” Harris was quoted as saying in an interview with the Star.
Less and less events are being staged in the place that was once dubbed as the entertainment capital of Jamaica.
It is not surprising as patrons are scared for their safety so promoters are ‘losing their shirt’ when they invest in some of these events.
