There is a sweet poignant story on film about Barack and Michelle Obama’s first date.
The story came together based on reports out there in the public domain.
Titled Southside With You the romantic fictionalized first date of the couple who currently occupy the White House debuted Sunday to a packed house at the Sundance Film Festival.
The movie tells the story of a single day in 1989, the first day that summer associate, Harvard student Barack Obama ( spent with his adviser, Michelle Robinson, a second-year associate with a Chicago corporate law firm.
President Obama is played by Parker Sawyers and Michelle Obama is played by Tika Sumpter – who you may know as Candice from The Have and The Have Nots.
Sawyer’s portrayal of Obama brings to the screen the unmistakable cadence and quick smile of the man who would become president. Sumpter shows a young Michelle as confident and determined, caring and kind.
The director and screenwriter of the film is Richard Tanne with co-producer being Sumpter.
