15-year-old daughter of United States sprinter Tyson Gay was shot and killed Sunday.
Trinity Gay was caught in a crossfire between two shooters at Cook Out Restaurant in Lexington, Kentucky early Sunday morning. She was shot in the neck.
She died at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, the coroner’s office for Fayette County said in a statement.
Gay, flew in from his home just outside Orlando, Florida and has stated that he is very confused.
Gay’s daughter, who herself is a rising track star runs the 100 and 200M just like her father and had dreams of being the fastest woman in the world.
Three men have since been arrested in connection with the shooting death.
Lexington police have charged Dvonta Middlebrooks, 21, with wanton endangerment and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to WKYT.
Chazerae Taylor, 38, and D’markeo Taylor, 19, who are father and son, have also been charged with wanton endangerment.
The men were all taken into custody Sunday evening.
